Most people I know are pretty much constantly in the midst of an inquiry about their life’s purpose — what’s my purpose? what am I doing here? am I doing it right? how do I know if I’m track?
And usually it seems like this conversation is driven by a process of getting really clear about who we are and what’s ours to do, and then plugging ourselves into the unique specialization that we and only we can provide to the life of the planet.

But I think maybe living with purpose is much simpler than that. Maybe clarity isn’t about narrowing our focus down to the one particular socket into which we need to plug ourselves, but rather opening up to the idea that everything can be a “socket.” Maybe specialization is about expanding into the groove of Everything, including all life’s complexity and contradiction and paradox. Every encounter, every situation, every blessed thing is an access point to the Infinite, our plug-in to Purpose and Source and the Infinite Radiant Light that is the truth of all being.

Pema Chödrön’s line, “You are the sky. Everything else – it’s just the weather,” has been a great teacher of mine recently. The weather certainly has been doing interesting things, and I have been more powerfully called to remember that I am the sky.

Join us on Sunday as we explore impermanence, change, and the wisdom in the weather.

“One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving.” — Paulo Coelho

Beyond all our reasons, excuses, and justifications lives our power, freedom, and responsibility to actually BE cause. Why? BECAUSE. Because I choose, because I care, because I love.

I can’t wait to see you Saturday at 6:00, with music by my gorgeous friends Patty Stephens and Karl Richardson. Join us at 5:30 for wine & snacks. XO, Drew

"Only those who have tried to breathe under water know how important breathing really is, and will never take it for granted again.” - Richard Rohr

This statement resonated deeply with me, as my heart reacted to the events in the Houston area and in India, Nepal, and Bagladesh this week. I realized that each of us have, in our own way, “tried to breathe under water,” and have, by surviving, come to value breath in ways only we can. These experiences can make us feel broken and less than, or they can make us realize how much love and compassion we have developed, and how powerful it is to remember what is real and important.

Join us on Sunday as we explore how not to take for granted what is really important, and how to support each other in finding our breath, especially when we feel like we are underwater.

With Great Love,
Rev. Kylie Renner
